In October 1959 her appearance on “Person to Person”, which was filmed in her apartment at the Ravenswood, was cancelled before the telecast. Apparently CBS got cold feet when they saw how racy Mae's banter with interviewer, Charles Collingwood, was. For example, when he remarked about the mirrors above her famous canopied bed, she replied “They’re for personal observation, I like to see how I’m doin’!”
